Levin’s series Lust (2022 to 2024) was selected for the Independent Artists’ Greenhouse at Fresh Paint Art Fair, the leading art fair in Israel, which annually showcases a select group of emerging artists. Lust reimagines Christian iconography through bold jacquard works in red, symbolizing passion, life, and sin, viewed through the lens of queer desire. The series traces the edges of transformation and restraint.

In 2024, Levin was awarded a Visual AIDS Artist Support Grant, part of a longstanding New York based initiative supporting artists. He has exhibited with The Norm Gallery in Paris, Edmond de Rothschild Center, Corridor Gallery, and in his own solo shows: Lust – Chapter II (2022) and Lust – Chapter III (2023).

Levin studied at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design, and Art in Tel Aviv, spending a year in the Fashion Department before focusing on Textile Design for four years. He also attended the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, further enriching his artistic and design foundations.

Nir Giorgio Levin’s (b. 1994) work is deeply autobiographical, shaped by the layered experiences of growing up between faiths, countries, and identities. Born in Brazil and raised in Tel Aviv after being adopted into an Israeli family, Levin carries both Brazilian and Israeli identities: Christian beginnings and Jewish rituals. He often describes himself as an artist without a fixed country or religion, navigating a world in which he belongs to both and neither. His work doesn’t try to resolve these tensions. It moves between them.

At the core of his work lies storytelling. His art delves into themes of forgiveness, spiritual connection, and the complexities of human relationships, while also serving as a lens for examining the tensions between his personal experiences and broader societal norms. By combining historical research and material experimentation, Levin challenges the constraints of societal and religious structures, inviting viewers to engage deeply with his work and confront the layered narratives it carries.
